In a REIT the role and duty of the trustee is to act as custodian of the assets of the trust fund (take into its custody or under its control) and to safeguard the interests of the unit holders. The trustee is obliged to act with due care, skill, diligence and vigilance as well as in accordance with the deed of the fund,the Securities Commission Guidelines and applicable securities laws in carrying out its duties and responsibilities. Trustees are required to actively monitor the administration of the fund by the management company to ensure that the interest of the unit holders are upheld at all times.
